Whatsapp is facing a new challenge by GOI

  


Earlier this month, Whatsapp which is owned by Facebook has updated a new privacy policy. Under this privacy policy, the data of the users will be shared by some facebook companies. The changes were about to come in action in February month but now have postponed from February 18 - May 15 and now as the users are very aggressive so the company is facing major challenges.

One of the major challenges Whatsapp faced by India also, where a strong-worded letter has been issued by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology mentioning that “nonreversible changes are not fair and acceptable”.

 

 

Government of India has reminded that the South-Asian nation has the biggest client base all around the world and the new Privacy Policy "raises grave concerns with respect to the suggestions for the decision and self-rule of the Indian residents". As per the service, the new ToS is not regarding appropriately Indian residents, whatever that implies.

After the Delhi High Court stated that it is optional for the users to switch to other apps and after this statement, the letter has come. The court also added, “even Google Maps will capture all your data and will store it”.

The representatives of Facebook and Whatsapp also mentioned in addition that there is no foundation for the actual lawsuit. The personal messages with the friends and the family would not be revealed but the changes which are been made are only for the business chats.
