Earlier this month, Whatsapp which is owned by Facebook has
updated a new privacy policy. Under this privacy policy, the data of the users
will be shared by some facebook companies. The changes were about to come in
action in February month but now have postponed from February 18 - May 15 and
now as the users are very aggressive so the company is facing major challenges.
One of the major challenges Whatsapp faced by India also,
where a strong-worded letter has been issued by the Ministry of Electronics and
Information Technology mentioning that “nonreversible changes are not fair and
acceptable”.
Government
of India has reminded that the South-Asian nation has the biggest client base
all around the world and the new Privacy Policy "raises grave concerns
with respect to the suggestions for the decision and self-rule of the Indian
residents". As per the service, the new ToS is not regarding
appropriately Indian residents, whatever that implies.
After
the Delhi High Court stated that it is optional for the users to switch to
other apps and after this statement, the letter has come. The court also added, “even Google Maps will capture all your data and will store it”.
The
representatives of Facebook and Whatsapp also mentioned in addition that there
is no foundation for the actual lawsuit. The personal messages with the friends
and the family would not be revealed but the changes which are been made are
only for the business chats.
