Facebook: AI Models can forecast the COVID-19 patient’s needs


 

Facebook said that its AI model can forecast a patient's need for more intensive care resources up to four days in advance that needs special care.

Research has been conducted by the (AI) artificial intelligence unit by American social media giant Facebook who is trying to support healthcare providers speculate in advance if the infected patient of COVID-19 needs to take more severe care.

It was mentioned in the blog post by Facebook that two AI models have been developed. Among which one is based on a single chest X-ray and on the other side, the second one will speculate the condition of the infected COVID-19 patient if the condition is getting severe. In case if extra oxygen is needed by the patient will speculate by the third model.

As per the reports, there was a collaboration b/w NYU Langone Health’s Predictive Analytics Unit and Radiology Department through which the chest X-rays are being done.

Generally, Facebook’s AI model is doing much better in comparison to the human in terms of speculating the need of the patient’s for more extreme care up to 4 days beforehand.
