Delhi High Court: If you want to switch Whatsapp you can if it does not accept the terms and conditions

 


On Monday, January 18, 2021, the Delhi High Court gives the statement that Whatsapp messaging app which is owned by Facebook-owned messaging is an optional thing. It will totally depend upon the user if they want to continue with the Whatsapp app or switching the other alternative. The court continues saying that for many other mobile apps if the terms and conditions are read, "you would be surprised as to what all you are consenting to" and "Even Google Maps captures all your data and stores it".

Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva said to the lawyer who once challenged Whatsapp’s new update that “It’s a private application. Do not join it. It’s an optional thing. Do not accept it. Use alternative.”



This was earlier in February condemned into activity but till May now it is postponed.

According to the petitioner, it was stated by the Delhi court that what will be the data that will leak is unknown and this situation needs attention and should be taken seriously. Due to the shortage of time on Monday, it will be now listing now January 25, 2021.

The Court decision is also agreed by the central government that Whatsapp and Facebook need to pay severe attention to this matter. The senior advocates Kapil Sibal and Mukul Rohatgi respective lawyers of both the apps told the court that the petition was not appropriate and without any proper hearing, different issues are arising. In addition to that, they also told that the messages among family members and friends will not be revealed or read but the updated policies are for the business chats.

The appeal has taken off that update. Full access into a user's online activity without there being any supervision by the government is allowed by Whatsapp’s new update has been claimed in the appeal.
